ABOUT The Author

Close-up portrait of a life-writer and novelist Craig Shubin, wearing round glasses and a white t-shirt, smiling subtly against a gray background.

Raised in rural Oregon, Craig spent his childhood exploring the Pacific Northwest wilderness. He is an experienced oarsman, fly fisherman, and roadtripper. Upon turning eighteen years old, he embarked on a new direction, pursuing a career in Finance.

While attending the University of Washington, he majored in Business Administration, with a focus in Finance. Following Graduation, while stepping into a world of spreadsheets and yearly promotion cycles, he traded financial derivatives across London, New York, Seattle, Singapore, and Sydney. For much of his twenties, he lived behind three monitors scheming how to become his boss’s boss, only to find that he was depressed, an alcoholic, and hopelessly addicted to prescription anxiety medication. Needing redemption, he took an around-the-world trip, traveling across Afghanistan, India, and Mexico, where he discovered his love of writing. His early works were 2,400-character count travel pieces posted to social media.

Since then, he has studied Creative Writing at University of Arts, London and has taken a residential life-writing course hosted by Arvon, in Yorkshire, England.

Today, Craig lives in London with his wife, son, and dog named ‘Tolstoy’. He plans to pursue his Master’s degree in creative writing, once his diaper duties are over.
